Chapter Seven

I can no more leave Josh at this moment than I can stop breathing and hope to live. I hadn’t searched him for any of the reasons why he was next door to me. I’d relied on my own instincts, honed after so many generations of artists and wordsmiths had been my charges. But when he leans forward with promise in his eyes, I can see that he isn’t shrouded with doubts. No, this is Josh at his most honest, wanting me, and I want him too.

I walk him back to the shop and unlock my door to let him in. He looks surprised, but I say nothing. I just lock the door behind us and lead him by the hand to the spiral metal stairs at the back of the place. He follows, and I can feel the arousal that drifts around us. This is right, and I am ready.

And the door says nothing.
